A concert to raise money to complete a documentary about Kansas City’s Cowtown Ballroom will be held from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. July 18 at the RecordBar, 1020 Westport Road.

Several bands will perform, many of which played at Cowtown during its heyday in the early 1970s. Cowtown-related memorabilia will be auctioned, too.

Filmmaker Joe Heyen, who has been working for almost a year on the project, said that funds would be used to get the film rights for music by artists who played at Cowtown. Those who buy a $10 ticket will get an official credit in the finished film, he said.
