BALLROOM BLITZ — Proprietor Stan Plesser is one of the major figures in the outstanding new documentary film “Cowtown Ballroom …
Sweet Jesus,” created by Joe Heyen and Anthony Ladesich. It continues
for a third week at the Tivoli Theatre. The film lovingly traces the roots
of the ballroom’s rock era back to Stan’s 1960s Midtown folk-music
coffeehouse, the Vanguard. Stan says history is great, but he’s pursing an
idea for a new/old music promotion … BTW, the “Sweet Jesus” part of
the film’s title alludes to a lyric in Brewer and Shipley’s classic song
